Weight Loss : The Big 4 Weight Loss Myths

There are many weight loss myths, and here are a few of them:

Weight Loss Myth # 1: Some foods, like oranges, celery, or cabbage soup, can burn fat and make you lose weight.

Fact: There is no food that can actually burn fat. Who ever heard of you eat a lot of people and you lose weight? What to eat and lose weight, exactly? I think the reason why they say that eating this food will make you lose weight is due to the fact that high-fiber foods and water content. If you eat food that has lots of liquid (fruit juice), it will help you create a smaller appetite for all the liquid you put in your body. Maybe that's why they say that it makes you lose weight but of course does not burn fat.

Weight Loss Myth # 2: "I can lose weight while eating whatever I want."

Fact: This is a yes and no. You can lose weight while eating whatever you want, but it will mean that you should run a lot for you to burn all the energy you have just taken on your body. Remember, your body's excess energy does not need to be stored as glycogen in the liver and if no further use, they will then be converted into fat and you will not want more fat in your body right? It's a no because if you eat whatever you want and not exercise, then you should not 'lose' weight, you get them in large numbers - depending on what you choose to eat.

Weight Loss Myth # 3: low-fat or non-fat means no calories.

Fact: That is not true. Just because it says low-fat or non-fat does not mean no calories. Fats are not the only one that has calories or energy, because protein and carbohydrates are not the same. "Remember, your body's excess energy does not need to be stored as glycogen in the liver and if no further use, they will then be converted into fat," and this applies to carbohydrates and proteins. Therefore, when nutrition claims are "low fat" or "non-fat" it only means that the fat had a lower level than normal.

Weight Loss Myth # 4: Skipping dinner is a good way to lose weight.

Fact: No it's not a good way to lose weight. Skipping meals is equivalent to starving yourself. When you starve yourself, you will feel hungry when you end up actually eating something. Which means that when you eat something, you'll tend to eat more than you really should which also means you may end up gaining more than losing weight.
