To maintain levels of Melatonin, recommended the following doses:
Age / Dose Melatonin:
40 - 44 years / 0.5 to 1.0 mg at bedtime
45 - 54 years / 1.0 to 2.0 mg at bedtime
55 - 74 years / 2.0 to 2.5 mg at bedtime
74 to the upper / 3.5 to 5 mg at bedtime
From the list above can be seen that Melatonin taken at bedtime and the dose increased along with age. For some people, Melatonin cause drowsiness so it is best to drink it half an hour before bedtime.
